Elizabeth leaned back in her chair, looking around at her empty office. It was her first day in her new job as Night Shift Supervisor at the Boston CSI department. She had gotten back into the city just a mere two days ago, so she hadn't even fully moved into her apartment, much less her office. Part of her wasn't even sure how long she planned on sticking around. After how hard she'd fought to get out of Boston, it was hard to believe she'd ended up right back where she started. Then again, she thought, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. The other members of the lab seemed friendly enough... and her office was rather spacious.
Absently, she gave a little spin in her chair, wondering just how long she'd have to wait before the first call came in. She'd yet to meet her team. In fact, she'd yet to meet anyone but the Assistant Director, and only then, they'd spoken for no more than five minutes. Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of introduction or training or something for this type of thing? Even so, she wasn't going to go wandering about the halls. For now, she'd rather just spin around in the chair and wait for some kind of notice...

Daniel couldn't believe his bad luck. It wasn't even his first day on the job and he was already lost. He officially started tomorrow, but he'd been asked to come in tonight to meet the Director of their Department. He had no clue where he was going trying to find the Director's office. He'd been given directions, but he was fairly certain he'd managed to get off track somewhere. Maybe the only good thing about this was that he'd gotten lost before his first day as the Swing Shift Supervisor rather than while he was on the job. That would have been a great impression to make on his team.
He stopped, looking at doors now and happening to glance into an office for one Elizabeth Buchanan. The woman inside, spinning on her chair no less, must have been Elizabeth. He knocked on the frame of the door before speaking. "Um, excuse me," he said. "I'm Daniel Royce, the new Swing Shift Supervisor. I was supposed to meet the director before I started tomorrow and I've gotten a little lost finding my way to his office. Could you help point me in the right direction?"

The shock of hearing another voice in her doorway threw Elizabeth's spinning completely off balance. Her chair started to rock, giving her the sensation that she was about to fall. Instinctively, her hands shot out to the desk, latching hold to steady herself. Her head, however, continued spinning, making dizzy an understatement. It took a second for her to recompose herself and look at the man in her doorway. She had known that there was another new person, but, like the rest of the lab, he had remained a mystery until the moment he spoke.
"Hi," she finally replied, shaking the last bit of dizziness out of her head. She stood up slowly, not wanting to throw herself back into motion sickness, before extending her hand. "You must be the other new guy. I'm Elizabeth. Night Shift Supervisor. Today is my first day." With a glance out into the hallway, she gave a slightly embarrassed look. "I have no idea where anything is around here. I'm sort of afraid to start wandering. I'd probably end up unbelievably lost." A shrug and a slight laugh slipped out to let him know that this was only halfway a joke. "Actually," she added, "I haven't met the director yet either. I don't even think anyone told me his name..."

Confident steps were made down the corridor, brown hair swishing. Cat had her hair up in a ponytail, and she had on the suit she normally wore. There was a cup of coffee in her right hand, and she had just thrown out the trash from what she had called dinner. It had been a Heath bar, but she moved on afterward. Oddly enough, when it had been long days, that's all she'd have, despite that it was bad for her.
After a long day, Cat just wanted to go home and fall asleep, but she found herself walking into the office. Two other people were in there, and she looked over at both of them for a moment. "Hello." She said, then poured herself another cup of coffee. "You both night shift now?" She asked them as she looked around the office. "Nice place, too." She half-smiled, and kept a wary eye on the male. She seriously had issues with the male population. She leaned against a wall. "My name's Cat."

So this was Elizabeth. It seemed that Daniel had startled her, but she certainly didn't seem angry. She also couldn't help him out though. She hadn't met the supervisor either and was just as new as him. Come to think of it, Daniel didn't think he knew the director's name either. Well, he knew it was Director Peters, but a last name really didn't tell Daniel all that much.
Another woman, Cat, entered the room and introduced herself. She got a cup of coffee and seemed to keep her eye on Daniel as he did. That bugged him just a little, making him wonder if he'd done something to make her wary or if she was just lumping him in with the general population. Dan wasn't fond of stereotyping, especially gender stereotypes.
"No, I'm Daniel Royce, the new swing shift supervisor," he said. "I'm just here because I was supposed to meet the director before I started tomorrow and then get lost trying to find his office. It's nice to meet you, Cat."
